Share Your Plan to Vote

I've been canvassing both for myself and for others up and down the ballot by showing up for my precinct and the Orange County Democratic Party, and you might think that I would get asked about my platform, but the number one thing that I find myself talking about with potential voters is the mechanics of voting: where are the early voting sites in Orange County? When does early voting start (October 17th)? What are the NC photo ID requirements for voting? How do I get my sample ballot? And these questions usually come up because I share my plan to vote early, and I ask voters what their voting plan is.

That's why I'm asking you to make your plan in detail today. How are you getting your ballot? What day? Morning or afternoon? On your way to work, or maybe your lunch break? Before you pick up the kids from daycare or school? Thinking out these details now and sharing them with friends and family significantly ups the chances that they will have everything thought out and be able to vote early, and voting early helps all the campaigns, from Harris/Walz and Josh Stein to Mo Green; Judges Riggs, Thompson, Eldred, and Moore; to Sarah Taber and Jeff Jackson; to Phyllis Portie-Ascott and (turning to the back of your ballot) me, Cristóbal Palmer. Voting early helps us candidates because it costs us volunteer time and money to reach voters, and a knock on your door after you've already voted is time we would have spent contacting another voter.

If you can donate a few dollars to my campaign or come canvass in the next week, you can help my campaign and the future participation of more residents in the progressive governance of Carrboro. Thanks for your help.
